This South Africa luxury holiday begins in Cape Town, a city of contrasts perched between the Atlantic and Indian Oceans. You'll be staying somewhat out of town, near the suburb of Muizenberg. We selected this fantastic estate, that consists of historic hotel, world class restaurant, beautiful golf course and working winery. Many of the buildings on the premises have a monumental status and staff will be happy to tell you all about the estate's history. This place is a tranquil haven for you to enjoy, but the bustling city is never far away. Rooms are spacious, provide stunning views of the surrounding vineyards and are classically decorated with many antiques throughout the hotel. Of course breakfast is included during your stay.

After a delicious breakfast on the terrace, you can start your first round of golf. The 18 hole golf course is located ideally and just a stone's throw away from your room. It is a very diverse course, every hole offering a different view of the surroundings. In the afternoon there is time to visit some of the attractions in the area. We highly recommend a drive to the coastal town on the southern Cape Peninsula. Just passed Simon's Town you can visit the famous penguin colony on Boulder's Beach. A little further you'll come across the Cape of Good Hope: the most southwerstern tip of the African continent. It is perfect for some walks, or for just enjoying the incredible views of the Indian and Atlantic Oceans.

After breakfast it is time to travel to the next destination. An excellent motorway takes you out of the city in no time. We do recommend making a little detour, leave the N2 motorway and drive via Clarence Drive (R44) to Hermanus. This spectacular coastal road winds between the Indian Ocean and steep mountains through the Kogelberg Biosphere Reserve all the way to Hermanus. Along this road you'll find many places to park your car and enjoy the beautiful sea views. Not long before reaching Hermanus is your next hotel situated on the edge of a large lake. It is an award winning hotel, and you'll quickly notice why when setting foot in the hotel. The facilities, eye for detail, attentive staff, gourmet restaurant and beautiful surroundings all blend very well together making it hard to beat by anything else. For each room a colour palette is used inspired by colours from the surrounding environment offering a very harmonious atmosphere. All rooms have either mountain or lake views. Of course your room is equipped with electronic safe, mini-bar, satellite television, air conditioning and coffee/tea making facilities. (Driving distance 68 miles)

Day 4: Hermanus

golf in south africa

Take your time in the morning and enjoy breakfast on the outside terrace. After this you can start your round of golf in Hermanus. We book a tee off in advance for your convenience so that you can be sure to play. Afterwards enjoy lunch in the restaurant or drive to the village of Hermanus and find a seaside restaurant here. Hermanus is famous for its whale viewing: between July and November many southern right whales flock into the calm waters of the bay in front of Hermanus. It is the best location in the world to view these massive mammals without getting onto a boat. Also outside the whale season Hermanus is a pleasant village (and much calmer) with some wonderful beaches for you to lazy around. Tonight you'll sleep again in the hotel not far from Hermanus.
